There are a number of drugs that interact with Carisoprodol. Before you begin your treatment with Generic Soma, let the treating doctor know about all the medicines – OTC and prescription, as well as herbal products and nutritional supplements you are taking, so that the doctor can advise you which drugs have to be left out while you are on therapy with Soma, and work out the correct dose for you.
Soma of these drugs include:-
- Antihistamines like Diphenhydramine.
- Benzodiazepines such as Alprazolam, Diazepam, Midazolam, Triazolam.
- Narcotic/Opioid analgesics such as Acetaminophen, Codeine, Hydrocodone, Meperidine, Morphine, Oxycodone, Propoxyphene.
- Tricyclic Antidepressants such as Elavil [Amitriptyline], Ludiomil, Norpramin, Pamelor, Tofranil, Vivactil.
- Anti-seizure medications such as Banzel, Carbamazepine, Dilantin, Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Tegretol, Valproic Acid.
- Central nervous system depressants such as Sodium Oxybate.
- Mepobramate and another of its prodrugs – Tybamate.
- Anti-allergy medicines.
- Medicines for cough-and-cold [even OTC products, as some of these may include a sedative effect].
Before beginning treatment, also give your detailed medical history to the physician, especially mentioning if you have suffered from any disease of the liver, or kidneys, or have had epilepsy. Let the treating doctor know if you have suffered from an enzyme disorder – porphyrias, that can affect the nervous system or the skin.
Refrain from taking alcohol, for Carisoprodol does not work well with alcohol, as both cause drowsiness. It is recommended that pregnant or lactating women consult their physician/gynaecologist before taking Generic Soma, and if a woman conceives during treatment, then, too the doctor must be informed. This medicine is not recommended for children below 16 and adults above 65.
